Here's how you can cultivate a collaborative culture in your Corporate Communications team.

Des de la meva experiència, és del tot impossible comunicar-se amb un públic divers des d'un equip monolíticament homogeni. Assemblar-se a aquells a qui es pretén interpel·lar, ser-ne part fins i tot, ajuda a entendre'n les necessitats, les expectatives, els codis... Ser capaç d'atraure perfils diferents i estimular un diàleg honest i igualitari entre ells és el millor antídot contra molts dels biaixos que queden en l'angle mort dels equips de comunicació més convencionals.

Communication teams are a creative kind - they are energetic, full of ideas and can be sensitive creatures as usually they are empathetic and feel the pulse of the organisation. It is critical to foster a psychologically safe environment in a comms team - where all voices are heard and not judged for their inputs; projects and programmes are shared between equally strong contributors with shared goals. This approach sparks creativity and makes teams feel safe and valued.

One thing I've found helpful is to build up a diversfied team or to bring together diversfied minds for problem solving. The more diversified, the better the results. As a friend of mine recently said: To achieve out of the box results, you need to put different people inside the box. At the beginning of each meeting, you should reiterate how important it is to accept everybody's perspective and that they should try to understand, why the other person feels / sees it this way.

Celebrate different perspectives and backgrounds. A diverse team brings fresh ideas and innovative solutions, enhancing collaboration and creativity.

The Cheshire Cat: Oh, you're sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.” Si hi ha un destí -si, com a equip, tenim una meta concreta, explícita, coneguda i entesa per tothom- segur que trobarem el camí. Si no sabem on anem, tant fa el que fem.

Acredito que esse seja um ponto principal, se a pessoa não tem clareza nas metas trabalha sem direcionamento e sua performance fica comprometida. Muitas vezes não é culpa do colaborador e sim da liderança que não deixa claro o caminho e o objetivo a ser atingido.

Besides having a two way communication road with the team, I believe making them feel confident and comfortable that they can express their point of view, that every contribution is important regardless or how crazy or unconventional the idea or contribution might sound its also important. Having a clear vision and a collective effort while promoting team building activities will create a great environment where everyone can contribute and learn.

The best way to foster openness in a team is by sharing and involvement. My way of doing this is by organizing frequent brainstorming sessions with my team - everyone can contribute to topics, even to ones that they are not working on. This way you foster teamwork, fuel innovation and collaboration, ensure alignment and get the best out of your team. I highly recommend this practice for optimal outcomes.

Encouraging open dialogue and genuinely listening to different perspectives in a team encourages real collaboration. When people feel heard, they naturally bring their authentic selves to work every day, which strengthens the entire team.

Os colaboradores não devem sentir medo em se expressar, dar inputs e fazer críticas construtivas. A gestão do medo não funciona bem e nem nunca funcionou em empresa e nem em época nenhuma. O autoritarismo afasta o time do líder e faz com que desanimem e não engajem.

What each team member does must make sense to him or her. I don't like the impulse when I receive a work result with the indifferent request to evaluate it as sufficient. For me, talking about one's own way of working, about considerations and concerns is part of autonomy, not working in silence and isolation. And in the end, at best, there is a result that the team member can back with his or her knowledge and judgment. Autonomous working therefore requires openness and the courage to have your own opinion and stand up for your own decisions.

Erfolge zu feiern, ist entscheidend – sowohl große als auch kleine. Wichtig ist dabei das „Wie“: Durch gezielte Anerkennung, sei es in Form von Team-Meetings, persönlichen Dankesworten oder gemeinsamen Aktivitäten bis hin zu Abteilungs- oder Firmenfeiern, können Führungskräfte die Bemühungen ihrer Mitarbeiterinnen wertschätzen. Dabei sollte nicht nur der individuelle Beitrag, sondern auch die Teamarbeit hervorgehoben werden. So wird nicht nur die Motivation gestärkt, sondern auch das Wir-Gefühl im Team nachhaltig gefördert.
