Taking responsibility is key when misunderstanding happens. Also adding a sincere apology will be helpful - however the most important action would be a contingency plan to make up for lost time and rectify the mistake with minimal delays and no additional cost to the project. When we are rebuilding trust, honesty and transparency is key. I’d maintain regular communication with the stakeholder and offer more check-ins if that helps as well.
