To ensure all employees are prepared for emergencies, it’s essential to move beyond simple drills and foster a proactive safety culture. Introduce regular, scenario-based training sessions that simulate different types of emergencies, allowing employees to practise their responses in real-time. Additionally, create accessible, clear communication channels for reporting hazards and asking safety-related questions. Consider implementing peer-led safety committees where employees from different departments can provide insights and feedback on safety measures. This approach not only empowers employees but also ensures that safety protocols are well understood and embraced across the organisation.

Emergency Procedures must be regularly tested through simulated Exercises and, if practical, all Staff must attend these Exercises. Through participation and providing Feedback on Areas for improvement, it provides opportunities for Staff to demonstrate understanding, contribute to improving Safety and also to test the effectiveness of the Procedures. Conducting unannounced Drills will indicate the Perceptions of Staff and highlight Points to focus on to improve awareness, understanding, preparedness and coordination. In addition, widen Safety discussions and improve Communication, using different Methods, for Information to be easily accessible and understood at all Levels.
