Healthcare professional managers can use decision-making by first identifying the problem, gathering relevant information, considering alternative solutions, weighing the pros and cons, and ultimately selecting the most effective solution based on the available resources and organizational goals. Think horses not zebras! Problems that need fixing fast are upfront and screaming for attention. Ask staff who have already found a workaround what the issue is before looking from the outside in. A workaround bandaid will give enough time to solve for a hot fix. Then a long term solution with all the info you gathered while getting the short term in place comes into play. Get help to sift through the information - you have to keep doing business despite the problem. Issues go unsolved and workarounds become the norm because of time and energy constraints. Hire outside consultants who are experts in problem solving techniques. They have insights on what worked for others already and can significantly reduce the time to a solution.
