This is when leadership is required to reiterate the common goal of solving the business need first. The team should focus on resolving the network issues, and once the issues are resolved, or in parallel, leadership should focus on team bonding activities such as outdoor adventures / CSR / lunch or dinners / team retreats / happy hours, etc., to create a positive & productive environment.

Ive worked in high paced enviorments all my life, In this situation with a critical failure and swamped teams i would change the order of these steps slightly to get the best out of the teams and still provide the service to the client. 1 Assess Fast 2 Prioritize tasks based on the failure and SLA of the client. 3 Communication Internal and external parties 4 Delegate tasks Based on discussed timeframes and previous lessons learned. 5 Boost Morale, Motivated teams perform better. 6 Monitor progress. 7 Communication open until issues are resolved.

All steps are correct and should be applied in the order mentioned. Fast reactions are vital in reducing downtime and preventing losses.

This is why open dialogue conversations are important. As a leader you not only to know your team’s abilities, but also their stress level.
