You're overseeing a Live Events project. What essential qualities should you possess to ensure success?

Some ways to get started: 1) Know the nature of the event. is it a corporate event, a music festival, a church production or a wedding event. 2) Plan creatively and have it on paper or a excel sheet 3)Communicate Effectively and do not take offence. remember offence is a choice. 4) Hire Tech savvy engineers and technicians 5)Dry Runs Wet runs and what not runs :p

In my experience, keeping your wits about you, staying flexible always, and learning to shift your outlook or plan at a moments notice. This starts with early risk assessment, and playing out scenario plans so you have the ability to take quick action and keep one foot in front of the other!

1. Get Clients Budget $, so your Creative doesn’t waste time & $, designing something your Client can’t afford 2. Site Survey 3. Hire the Best Crew & Vendors 4. Track all hours and be ready with “ change orders”, even in Pre Production & especially on site. Do not proceed until it has Client signature to proceed 5. Clarify Client expectations & Audience takeaway 6. Rehearse before you go on location, Clients especially! 7. Always be ready for changes on location, and react calmly & professionally 8. It’s OK to say no. It’s how you say it 9. Post Show notes - Make it better, save money, more efficient, what didn’t work. What did 10. Plan the work, work The plan 11. Have Fun, enjoy the process, your Client will too

Big Picture is always key. Give all the key players the "Big Picture" of the event. Hire professionals to do their professions and hold open lines of communications. Be able to have an idea of the "Big Picture", changes and challenges must be accepted, and not to be held up on lack of a decision. Be able to pivot on a dime and ensure the team is already solid before leaving the dugout.

It is crucial to be open to hiring individuals who excel in specific tasks, even if they surpass your own abilities in that area. Recognizing and valuing their expertise can lead to better execution of tasks and foster a collaborative and successful work environment.

It involves making quick, informed decisions and solving problems in real-time while maintaining confidence and composure. As a leader, you must foster an environment of collaboration and motivation, guiding your international teams through challenges and keeping the focus on delivering exceptional experiences.

Managing a Live Events project demands top-notch organizational and communication skills, exceptional problem-solving capabilities, and a keen eye for detail. It's crucial to have effective leadership, team management, budgeting expertise, creativity, and technical know-how.

Meticulous planning is the backbone of any successful global live event. This involves coordinating schedules, resources, and logistics across multiple time zones and ensuring everything is in place when needed. Being adept at anticipating potential issues and having contingency plans ready is vital for maintaining the flow and integrity of the event, no matter where it is taking place. Timelines, Roles & Responsibilities, Work-back Schedules, and Reconciled Budgets are essential tools for planning.

To ensure success in live events, meticulous planning is crucial. It involves careful scheduling, anticipating potential issues, and having backup plans. This attention to detail ensures smooth execution and a memorable experience for all participants.

To succeed in overseeing a Live Events project, key qualities include strong organisational skills, adaptability, attention to detail, and effective communication. These ensure that all elements of the event are coordinated seamlessly, risks are managed proactively, and the project meets its objectives on time and within budget.

Effective communication in the Live Event space, in my case particularly Music Touring is hyper critical. Starting to, as we call it, Advance a tour or specific show on a calendar as early as possible. This starts with general emails, then specified emails and then several phone calls to identify missing information or pain points. When the venue, event or team you're trying to advance with either is not responsive, or not supplying specified information, this can lead to a very challenging event/show day. We coordinate everything from ground transportation, catering, dressing rooms, power for the event, stage specs, production specs etc. When any of that information is incorrect or not detailed enough this could mean a good event goes bad.

Effective communication is key in live events. I ensure success by clearly conveying ideas, actively listening, and swiftly resolving issues. This fosters a collaborative atmosphere, keeps everyone on the same page, and ensures the event runs smoothly.

Know enough to know what you don’t know and make sure you employ the best talent to cover all the technical tasks and challenges.

Saber comunicarse con un departamento en específico es primordial, pues cada uno tiene su idioma propio. Si bien no es obligatorio manejar toda la jerga de cada espacio, el staff agradece que se pida lo más común en su lenguaje; levantar los muertos, hacer un fade, un zoom, cambiar un cable XLR, detectar un hiss, etcétera. Así la comunicación será más asertiva para que el evento salga mucho mejor.

No matter how meticulously you plan, unexpected things can always arise. That's why it's crucial to understand the event's goal; this way, if changes occur, you can navigate them effectively. It's also important to have a solid communication system with your team, ensuring everyone is informed and can adapt smoothly to any changes.

1) Enjoy the process. 2) Make sure your team can count on each other and on you when it all hits the fan. 3) Understand your Audience, but be willing to learn a new perspective. As P. Swayze said in the original Road House "You haven't got the right temperament for the job". Make sure you have and your team will follow suit.

A great key of success is having clear vision then making good planning. You also need to believe in your self and smart enough to take advantage of all what it rakes to achieve your dream.
