In my experience I have found that , sometimes, the leader it’s also part of the challenge. Usually, his behavior, listening and relating with the people seen or perceived as sub-group’s “messengers” , ends up conveying a wrong message to the large audience. Therefore, an external (neutral) facilitator has to be considered. When the leader (publicly) act and participate as an equal, the audience perceives or receives his intention as a true position. It might help, as well, if the facilitator present a case ….

Having a clear and “uniform” understanding about each faction is the key. Includes what they value and defend , as well as, what they’re arguing or fighting against with a reasoning. After having this point clear, it’s important that every faction clearly understands the others point of view. Blending representatives , helped by a facilitator may create a mutual respect among the factions. Easy to write about , not as easy to implement or execute. That’s our leadership life and challenges !
