Whenever I onboard a new client, I always build a good rapport with them. I asked about their personal life, family and all. We always have a good and soothing conversation at first.
Also, I then ask how their business has been faring, their business goals, challenges and the area they want me to come in.
I do run a background check on the business of my clients to inform them where they are getting it wrong in their business and how we can both work together to make it get better.
Its best to rub a SWOT analysis on the coachee and the business concerned.. It makes the coaching work very easy.
