Everyone is talking about the 17 SDG goals as laid down by United Nations but as far as sustainability goes for most of us this was the way of life while we were growing up. It is driven by United Nations General Assembly after a Summit held in New York on Sep 23-25 to establish Sustainability Developement Goals ,now popularly known as SDG .The summit was well represented by the leaders from 193 countries. 3 years of consultative efforts had gone before this summit where multiple stakeholders were involved post 2012 Brazil ,Rio+20 Summit" .A document was produced called "Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" .

Having a concrete plan for how you will develop your ESG skills is really helpful and forces you to continue to prioritise the development of your ESG skills. When work becomes busy, it can be hard to prioritise maintaining and improving your skills, so this is where having a concrete plan will be really helpful.

For companies, tracking individual ESG skills may not be entirely appropriate. Instead, it may be more appropriate to track where skills gaps are in the organisation and to either recruit new members of staff to fill those skills gaps or to provide training to existing members of staff.
