How can technology help leaders manage deadlines?

We have found that project management tools are key for keeping track of projects and tasks. We use Asana but I’m also using Click up with our brand designer. Both are helpful in thinking through all of the steps for a project and assigning deadlines, staff and tasks to stay accountable.

Whether it's Jira, Asana, Trello or something else - having a project management tool helps everyone see what worked was agreed to originally and set up deadlines. We're all human, and it's easy to forget.

We use time tracking tools with our accounting software. It makes it easier for us to connect time to invoicing to run payroll accurately. However, we may need to use a different method so understand how much we spend on actually projects.

Google Drive is a priority for our team. It allows us to store documents, make edits and track changes in real time instead of sending multiple drafts via email. It also allows us to create files and store documents based on projects. When you have multiple projects it streamlines the process.

Utilizing reputable cloud storage allows the company to inherent security controls of the provider, thereby lessening the burden (and cost) of cybersecurity expertise required to protect the hosted data. Ensuring that the usage and configuration of the collaborative cloud storage aligns with the security requirements and risk appetite of the company is imperative. Be sure to verify that the data is encrypted at rest, in transit, and access is appropriately monitored and reviewed periodically. Many collaborative cloud storage providers default to encryption protection by default for sata at rest and in transit.

Remote work efficiency is elevated through shared, digital calendars, through avoiding negotiating meeting times and dates. The set-and-forget capability of most calendar services reduces the cognitive burden of creating and tracking multiple events. Mindfulness of peoples’ time is enforced through meeting parameters with agendas, descriptions, and attachments able to be configured and forgotten until later, allowing the creator and participants to focus on current issues. Also of importance, most calendar services allow for shared calendars, privacy settings, and nuances alerting levels for different events.

Don't just set it up and forget it. The power of using these tools is that you run your recurring meetings using them; update the backlog, adjust the deadlines, and use them to facilitate discussions on your work.
