In my view, even the word "partner" for NGOs is frequently used in CSR space however Often, the funders undermine the importance of treating NGOs as equal partners for execution of projects for meeting corporate own goals. I have noted that many corporate treat NGOs or Implementing Agencies as vendors or suppliers. If you treat a partner in creating social impact as vendor or an outsider than expecting them to own your CSR project is not realistic. Best way to avoid conflicting priorities and pave way for a seamless collaboration is to treat NGOs as CO-CREATERs, extending hands in meeting your Organizational priorities. Once this is done than ownership, accountability, transparency and sharing responsibility automatically comes in.

I totally agree Amit. The collaboration with CSR initiatives demands a competitive strategic partner that has shared-vision and is ready to co-create social impact. Thus, seeking for a partner who can provide a synergetic value in realization of the vision. At the same time shared and integrated value at a deeper level needs to be understood.

Clear, shared goals are imp, saving time, energy, and resources while fostering strong relationships while vague objectives can lead to misinterpretations, misalignment, and ultimately, a deviation. Open comm & regular dialogue are crucial for understanding the rationale behind flexibility/ adaptability, ensuring project stays relevant to the evolving needs/ unforeseen field incidents. A collaborative approach that considers NGOs perspectives is essential for achieving the desired impact. Conflicting priorities must be proactively addressed & managed through prioritization and the pursuit of creative solutions that benefit both parties and contribute to the project's success

Aligning on common objectives and values, parties can work for a shared vision. developing a well-defined partnership agreement outlining roles, responsibilities, and KPIs can provide clarity and accountability. evaluation and feedback mechanisms help address conflicts and adapt to changing circumstances, fostering a collaborative and adaptive approach. Finally, commitment to transparency, flexibility, and compromise can facilitate a harmonious CSR partnership that maximizes social impact while respecting the interests of all stakeholders involved.

It is essential for corporations and NGOs to partner based on alignment with CSR policies. While business goals are also crucial, CSR initiatives are often strategic and require clear goal setting and objectives before embarking on any development project. Effective conflict management protocols and robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks are necessary to ensure adherence to timelines and project cycles. Both corporates and NGOs should carefully select their partners before collaboration to maximize expertise and resource efficiency. The partnership should aim for a greater good, it should not be just to raise funds or implement a project just to fulfil CSR obligation.
