Man who shoved woman into BART train, killing her, charged

A 49-year-old homeless man, who allegedly shoved a woman into an oncoming BART train from the Powell Street platform this week, was charged with murder and a special circumstance of lying in wait by the San Francisco District Attorney's Office on Wednesday.

The Walnut Creek BART station closed Tuesday morning and no trains are running between Lafayette and Pleasant Hill because of a "major medical emergency" involving a person on the tracks, a spokesperson for the transit agency said.
