The perfect chocolate chip cookie… made with oil?? Not margarine? Couldn’t be.  But it is.  It rarely happens, but when it does, it makes me happy: a perfect recipe, that tastes great, looks gorgeous and is simple enough for my 12-year-old daughter to make by herself from start to finish.  To my mind, that’s the perfect recipe.

Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 cup oil

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 and 1/2 cups brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 and 1/2 teaspoons Gefen Vanilla Extract

  • 2 and 1/2 cups flour

  • 1 teaspoon Haddar Baking Powder

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 7 ounces chocolate chips

Directions

Make the Cookies

1.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2.

Combine all ingredients until the chocolate chips, in bowl of electric mixer.  Mix to combine.  Then add the chocolate chips and mix until combined evenly.

3.

Roll into balls and place two inches apart on a lined cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.

It might be harder to mix, but worth a try.

Shapes Would it be possible to roll this dough and cut into shapes with a cookie cutter? Definitely would chill first.

YOu can certainly try. But honestly, rolled dough cookies hold their shape better. That said, last week we did gingersnaps and chilled the dough and then flattened them with our hands and used the cutters . They retained their shapes pretty well, but did rise a bit.

The prefect chocolate chip cookies The batter is so sticky. Hard to work with. Is there a way that I can make the dough not sticky and easy to work with.

HI Malky,
Is the hard to work with part when you roll into balls? I use an ice cream scoop to get uniform cookies.

So use an ice cream scoop. It also helps to refrigerate it first.

My favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. It’s still delicious even when it’s a day old and sitting out! THAT’S an accomplishment.

Came out delicious and so easy to make. The recipe says it serves 10. Wouldn’t it be more accurate to say yields 33 cookies?
