Germany
Germany has been a member of the ILO since 1919 (with the exception between 1939 and 1951).
The ILO Representation in Germany makes the mandate and activities of the ILO visible to an interested public and brings them into national political processes and thematic priorities. To this end, we are in constant contact with the relevant federal ministries (BMAS, BMZ, BAFA, BMWK, and Foreign Office), parliamentary committees, social partners, religious organisations, political foundations, scientific institutions, and other actors in civil society.
The ILO's scientific analyses are made available for national labour market policies (e.g. on migration, prevention of forced labour, anti-discrimination, corporate due diligence) and the conception of development cooperation programmes, which are also implemented in cooperation with the ILO.
At the same time, we serve as interface to the Regional Office and the ILO Headquarters and provide information on social and labour market policy developments in Germany that are of particular relevance for global processes and priorities (e.g. legislation on global supply chains, approaches to the future of work) and can be incorporated into the Global Coalition for Social Justice.
