The scope of the Regulation is to ensure the free circulation of construction products in the European Union, establishing harmonised rules on how to express the performance of construction products in order to minimize the risks to persons or property, reducing fires danger.
Construction product means any product or kit which is produced and placed on the market for incorporation in a permanent manner in construction works or parts thereof and the performance of which has an effect on the performance of the construction works with respect to the basic requirements for construction works;
Manufactures are involved as they have to place on the market cables conform to the requirements of the Regulation.Distributors are involved as they must when making a cable available on the market, and shall act with due care in relation to the requirements of this Regulation and pass downstream the foreseen documentation (e.g. DoP).
Cables can be classified in 7 classes of Reaction to Fire, identified by the letters from “F” to “A” and the subscript “ca” (cable) according to their increasing level of performance.
