Husqvarna Group Wheeled products will have a 13-digit serial number (example: 082524B0011613) The first 6 digits are the production date 08/25/24.  Husqvarna Group Handheld will normally have 11-digit serial numbers (example: 2022 1802338)  2022 is the production year and the following  2-digits signify the production week of 18.  Always document your equipment serial numbers.    Refer to the below link for a more comprehensive explanation of serial number formats.

Maintenance FAQs

Hydrostatic transmissions use oil, under pressure, to provide movement for the tractor. The fluid is pressurized with a pump inside the transmission. If any air is in the fluid, the pump will try to pressurize air. This condition is known as cavitation, and is detrimental to the pump since it allows the pump top operate dry. When the pump cavitates it is not pressurizing any fluid, so the transmission is not able to provide the movement needed.

If your mower is new, or has been stored for a long period (longer than 2 months) the transmission needs to be purged before use. Also, if you experience loss of drive, or slower response, then the transmission should be purged first.

The following procedure will remove trapped air inside the transmission(s).

IMPORTANT: SHOULD YOUR TRANSMISSION REQUIRE REMOVAL FOR SERVICE OR REPLACEMENT, IT SHOULD BE PURGED AFTER REINSTALLATION BEFORE OPERATING THE TRACTOR.

Step 1- Place the rear of the mower safely onto jackstands on a level surface with engine off and parking brake set.

Step 2- Disengage transmission by placing freewheel control, located at the back of the frame, in the freewheeling position.

NOTE: Mowers with separate pumps and wheel motors the freewheel are activated by turning the bypass valves, one on each pump, two full turns. The oil reservoir needs to be filled to the specifications listed in the owners manual before starting the purge procedure.

Step 3- Sitting in the operators seat(riders), start engine. After the engine is running, move throttle control to slow position. With motion control levers in neutral (N) position, slowly disengage clutch/brake pedal.

Step 4-Move motion control levers to full forward position and hold for five (5) seconds. Move levers to full reverse position and hold for five (5) seconds. Repeat this procedure three (3) times.

NOTE: During this procedure there may be some movement of the drive wheels, but they are not under load. The air is being removed from hydraulic drive system.

Step 5-Move motion control levers to neutral (N) position. Shutoff engine and set parking brake. Check and add oil as needed for units with an oil reservoir.

Step 6-Engage transmission by placing freewheel control into driving position, or by closing the bypass valves on the pumps.

Step 7-Sitting in the operators seat, start engine. After the engine is running, move throttle control to full speed. With motion control levers in neutral (N) position, slowly disengage clutch/brake pedal.

Step 8-Slowly move motion control levers forward, after the tractor moves approximately five (5) feet, slowly move motion control levers to reverse position.
After the mower moves approximately five (5) feet return the motion control levers to the neutral (N) position. Repeat this procedure with the motion control levers three (3) times.

Step 9-Your mower is now purged and now ready for normal operation.

For further information or assistance, we recommend contacting your local authorized service center.

Please review your operators manual for detailed information on purging your transmission.

To ensure proper operation and performance, it is recommend that the transmission be purged before operating
tractor for the first time. This procedure will remove any trapped air inside the transmission which may have developed during shipping of your tractor.

IMPORTANT: SHOULD YOUR TRANSMISSION REQUIRE REMOVAL FOR SERVICE OR REPLACEMENT, IT SHOULD BE PURGED AFTER REINSTALLATION BEFORE OPERATING THE TRACTOR.

1. Place tractor safely on a level surface - that is clear and open - with engine off and parking brake set.
2. Disengage transmission by placing freewheel control in freewheeling position (See “TO TRANSPORT” in
this section of manual).
3. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine. After the engine is running, move throttle control to slow position. With
motion control lever in neutral position, slowly disengage clutch / brake pedal.

CAUTION: At any time during step 4 there may be movement of the drive wheels.

4. Move motion control lever to full forward position and hold for five (5) seconds. Move lever to full reverse position and hold for five (5) seconds. Repeat this procedure three (3) times.
5. Move motion control lever to neutral position. Shutoff engine and set parking brake.
6. Engage transmission by placing freewheel control in engaged position (See “TO TRANSPORT” in this section of manual).
7. Sitting in the tractor seat, start engine. After the engine is running, move throttle control to half (1/2) speed. With motion control lever in neutral position, slowly disengage clutch/brake pedal.
8. Slowly move motion control lever forward, after the tractor moves approximately five (5) feet, slowly move motion control lever to reverse position. After the tractor moves approximately five (5) feet return the motion control lever to the neutral position. Repeat this procedure with the motion control lever three (3) times.

Your transmission is now purged and now ready for normal operation.

Product Support FAQs

There are different circumstances to a mower not starting.

Does the engine turn over, but does not start?

This is normally associated with the lack of incoming air or fuel not reaching the engine.

Check to ensure that there is fresh, clean fuel in the fuel tank. Also check the fuel filter, because a clogged fuel filter will prevent the engine from obtaining adequate fuel supply.

Check the air filter to ensure that it is not clogged or dirty. The quick way to check an air filter is hold it to a light, if you can not see light on the other side of the filter then it needs to be replaced.

If this is the first time the engine has been started today make sure the choke is engaged. The choke is used to limit the amount of incoming air into the engine to assist with cold starts.

If the engine has been started the choke needs to be off. Attempting to start a warm engine with the choke on will cause excessive fuel to enter the cylinder and flood the engine. If the engine is flooded put the throttle control to full throttle (making sure that you do not put the control into the choke detent if the unit has the choke and throttle on the same control) and crank the engine over. This will push out the excess fuel and allow the engine to start.

The engine does not turn over:

When key switch is turned to the start position battery voltage is sent to the starter through the key switch and then the solenoid. If the battery is weak it will not have enough voltage to engage the solenoid or turn over the starter motor.

Check the battery for adequate voltage, voltage should be no less than 12 volts DC.

If the battery voltage checks good the next possible issue is the main 20A fuse. The fuse is located under the dash on most tractors. When this fuse blows it severs the connection of the battery to the tractor.

If further assistance is needed, we recommend you contact your nearest authorized service center.

Typically we recommend a break in period of 6-10 tanks of fuel. During this period the engine should not be allowed to run at high RPMs for extended periods of time.

Also recommend after you have used 6-10 tanks of fuel you take the unit into your local authorized servicing dealer to have the carburetor readjusted for optimum performance.

Warranty FAQs

Your warranty is based on your date of purchase that's on your sales receipt.

May we suggest that you contact your bank or the place of purchase, to see if they can produce a copy of the sales transaction.

The receipt is all you have to determine warranty coverage, and without it, no warranty repair can be offered.

You may take your mower to any manufacturer authorized service center of the brand you have for evaluation, repair and warranty consideration.

Make sure to take a copy of your dated sales receipt.
