So what’s the difference between AirPods? Though the latest Bluetooth earbuds look strikingly similar to the former, the AirPods 4 are now available with the new H2 chip and with or without active noise cancellation (ANC). The ANC-enabled earbuds are $169 and include a new wireless charging case and a built-in speaker for Find My capabilities. If you don’t need those new features, the AirPods 4 are available without ANC for $119.
The new Apple AirPods Max are also now enabled with the H2 chip and include a USB-C port instead of the Lightning charging in the previous edition. The headphones also come in new colors (blue, purple, midnight, starlight and orange) and boast the same excellent features as the last model, including ANC, adaptive EQ technology (which automatically tunes music according to the shape of your ear) and over 24 hours of battery life when they’re fully charged.
The AirPods also work with Android phones and other non-Apple devices via Bluetooth. And whether you’re using Siri, Google Assistant or Alexa, the AirPods play well with smart assistants, so you can use them to hear the news, time, weather and schedules.
