Nutrition Services

Research has shown that there is a crucial relationship between nutrition and academic performance. We strive to offer quality meals to set our students up for success every day. Menus are planned by a registered dietitian to meet USDA specifications based on the  Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

No Cost Meals!

School meals are available to all enrolled Highline students at no cost this year!
Even though meals are a no cost for everyone, some families will be asked to complete an income survey to access other discounts and benefits. Income data allows schools to maintain state funding.

Menus

Homemade

Highline has four production kitchens throughout the district where employees bake fresh rolls, french bread, cornbread, and desserts with whole grains, and sometimes added fruits, vegetables or legumes. We also prepare many entrees from scratch including spaghetti and meat sauce, chicken pozole, macaroni and cheese, chicken chili and many more scratch made entrees.

Farm to School

Farm to school is the name used to describe programs that are promoting and serving locally produced foods in school cafeterias. We are commited to serving a variety of Washington grown fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy. We are excited to be participating in Farm to School, growing each year in what we can do to support local agriculture and bringing it into our cafeterias to serve our students. We offer salad bars at each school location where students can fill their plates with a colorful array of fruits and veggies. We have been fortunate to partner with great vendors that make this possible by sourcing locally.
