Johnson Mill Road Bridge #45 over Stout Bottle Branch

Johnson Mill Road Bridge #45 over Stout Bottle Branch will be closed to all through traffic on or about Monday, July 8, 2024 for approximately 6 (six) months. This bridge is located between Conowingo Road and Chestnut Hill Road.

School buses and emergency vehicles will not be permitted across the bridge at any time. Motorists who use this bridge should follow the detour signs or make other arrangements.

Bridge replacement

MD 924 (N Main Street)

A temporary Left Turn lane restriction regulation will be established effective July 16, 2024 for the southbound approach of MD 924 (N Main Street) at Gordon Street. This regulation will be in effect for a period of four months, or until such time that the Maryland Department of Transportation District 4 Office finds cause.

Left Turn Lane Restriction

MD 24 (Rocks Road)

May 15, 2024 UPDATE: A portion of MD 24 (Rocks Road) will be closed for six months. The closure will be located 700 feet south of Sharon Road to 1,700 feet north of Ferncliff Lane. The detour route will be MD 23 (East West Highway) and MD 165 (Baldwin Mill and Federal Hill Road.)

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration has initiated a roadway reconstruction/slope protection project for MD 24 (Rocks Road) - Section G in Harford County. The project area extends from 700 feet south of Sharon Road to 1,700 feet north of Ferncliff Lane and runs parallel to Deer Creek.

The project design phase is complete and construction work is anticipated to begin fall 2023. Project information is available on the State Highway Administration’s project webpage, MD 24 (Rocks Road) - Section G.

Roadway Reconstruction / Slope Protection Project

MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway)

July 2, 2024 Update: The emergency road work has been completed and the right turn lane on NB MD 24 at Singer Road has been reopened.

June 7, 2024 Update: The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration, in conjunction with the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA), will begin a temporary 24-hour closure and detour of the right-turn from northbound MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway) to eastbound Singer Road beginning Sunday, June 9 at 6 p.m. This closure and detour will be in effect 24-hours a day through mid-July, weather permitting.

The closure will allow crews to safely replace a 35-foot section of damaged corrugated metal pipe at the southeast corner of the intersection with a new reinforced concrete pipe. The other turns at the MD 24/Singer Road intersection will not be affected.

Drivers traveling from northbound MD 24 to eastbound Singer Road will be directed to use eastbound Wheel Road to southbound MD 924 (Emmorton Road) to proceed back to Singer Road. The Maryland Transportation Authority’s contractor, Allan Myers – MD, Inc. of Fallston, will use temporary traffic signs, arrow boards, barrels and cones to guide drivers safely through the highway work zone and detour.

March 25, 2024 Update: The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) on March 25, 2024, weather permitting, will begin work on the construction of an auxiliary lane in the northbound direction on MD 24 in Harford County. The project will add a third auxiliary lane on northbound MD 24 from MD 924 through the Singer Road intersection, improving capacity and safety along the corridor while reducing congestion for vehicles traveling from I-95 toward Bel Air. As part of the project, northbound travel lanes will be resurfaced, and traffic signal modifications will be made at the Singer Road intersection. Noise walls will be installed along sections of the project area.

Temporary, off-peak lane closures and minor traffic shifts can be expected throughout the duration of the project until its completion in fall 2025. For more information on the I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETL) Northbound Extension project, please visit the MDTA project site.

Road Construction

MD 924 (Emmorton Road)

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin improving the pavement on MD 924 (Emmorton Road) in Harford County on Sunday night, July 7, 2024. All work will be complete by early fall, weather permitting.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday, contractor crews will begin a $384,000 project to patch segments of asphalt pavement on MD 924 from Holly Wreath Drive to Plumtree Road. They will continue to work overnight, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, through early fall. Motorists can expect overnight lane closures with flagging operations while work is taking place.

The paving work on MD 924 is part of the State Highway Administration’s highway maintenance program to improve safety and ride quality of pavements on state highways within Baltimore and Harford counties. Contractor Allan Myers MD, Inc. of Fallston will perform the paving work.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.

Harford County Department of Public Works will be closing the Nobles Mill Road Bridge No. H-0160 over Deer Creek, which is located between E Nobles Mill Road and Harmony Church Road to replace the timber bridge deck.
