Google Ad Grants provides free Google AdWords advertising—up to $10,000 USD per month—on Google search result pages, to eligible nonprofit organizations. The program is designed to help nonprofits extend their public service messages to make a greater impact.

AdWords is online advertising that lets you target your ads to the type of customers you want, and filter out those you don’t.

When you advertise online with AdWords, you can use different targeting methods to reach potential customers right when they’re searching for your products or services.

Google Ad Grants works just like Google AdWords online advertising, by displaying your message to people who are searching for nonprofits like yours. If you’re a qualifying nonprofit, you’ll receive $10,000 USD in in-kind AdWords advertising every month.

It only takes 5 steps to submit your Google Ad Grants application.

Program Limits

Ad Grants recipients build and manage their own AdWords accounts (similar to paying advertisers) and have a number of options within the following limits:

• A daily budget limit of $329 USD, which is equivalent to about $10,000 USD per month
• A maximum cost-per-click (CPC) limit of $2.00 USD (possibly more when using the Smart Bidding Maximum Conversion strategy)
• Only include keyword-targeted campaigns
• Only include text ads that appear on Google search result pages, in positions below the ads of paying advertisers.
Express Account

If you’re interested in the Ad Grants program but don’t feel like your organization has the time or expertise to manage your account, you can create an AdWords Express account.

AdWords Express is a smart, automated version of AdWords that requires minimal, ongoing maintenance. It automatically manages where and when your ads show on Google so you can focus on doing what you do best: running your nonprofit organization.

Keeping people aware of your cause translates into more donations and more volunteers — the lifeblood of every nonprofit organization.
