Elvis Presley loved to read.
Not only did he keep books at home at Graceland Mansion, he often took many books out on the road with him while he toured. Elvis' favorite books are well-worn and well-loved; he would often underline his favorite passages and add notes in the margins.
World Book Day is April 23, so in celebration, here's a look at a few books from Elvis' collection.
Elvis' record collection contains music from all genres, but he owned a lot of gospel recor...

2019 was the year things got all shook up – in a good way! – at Graceland.
We added more events to our calendar, including concerts and themed weekends, plus we expanded the Graceland campus, filmed two new movies here and – as always – did our best to continue the legacy of Elvis Presley and introduce him to a new generation of fans.
Check out a list of our top moments of 2019, listed below in no particular order. Did you join us for any of these events?

A round-up of Elvis Week 2019 is next to impossible. The 10-day E-experience played out like a greatest hits compilation peppered with unpredictable, swerving deep cuts, rocking with intensity nearly every waking moment. Below are my personal hunka highlights:
Elvis Tribute Artist Performances
Simply put, nothing rivals the influence and inspiration of Elvis Presley. Although they’re the first to admit no one compares to the king, Elvis Tribute Artists (ETAs)...

Elvis’ undeniable electricity surged its way into every medium he touched. Records, films, television. But ask anyone who saw Presley onstage and nothing quite compares to the high octane vitality of an Elvis concert.
In August of 1969 after an eight-year hiatus from public performing, the king reclaimed his concert stage jungle with lion-like ferocity at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. That monumental turning point of Elvis’ career saw a resurrection of ...

“There must be lights burning brighter somewhere.” So goes the opening line of Walter Earl Brown’s 1968 composition “If I Can Dream,” an Elvis signature song of peace, redemption, and unity.
Ironically, 42 years after Presley’s passing, the spirit of that song rings prophetic at the Candlelight Vigil. Last night just after dusk on the eve of the anniversary of Elvis’ death, a perpetual procession began at the gates of Graceland, wi...

Graceland guests need fuel, especially during the hubbub of Elvis Week. Fall-off-the-bone barbecue ribs, fresh veggies, and the proverbial peanut butter and banana sandwiches make up just a small portion of the nourishment rocking and rolling out of the campus kitchens. And Chef Mollee Malone keeps tabs on everything edible.
As the first ever Graceland campus chef, Malone oversees all of the food and food production taking place behind-the-scenes at each of the Elvis Pre...

It may be mid-afternoon in the middle of Elvis Week, but a Polynesian pop of a party shakes its figurative grass skirt in the Jungle Room Bar, a fresh-out-of-the-box libation station in the new, sprawling Graceland Exhibition Center.
Elvis music echoes off the walls as fans hoot over a game of name-that-tune. Yet the real action flows from behind the bar. Carlos Rivas, wearing a replica of Elvis’ red floral button-up shirt from “Blue Hawaii,&...

Many dyed-in-the-wool Elvis admirers make a lifelong commitment to fandom. Some display it in the most permanent way possible: an Elvis tattoo.
They view it as a badge of honor where artistic expression meets affection that runs beyond skin deep. Elvis Week vet Christina Holgate of Calgary, Canada is one of a myriad of fans who took the plunge, braving the needle for the love of the king.
Spanning from the top of her left shoulder to her elbow, Christina&rsq...

Not matter what hung in the king’s closet, Elvis wore it well.
When it came to fashion, from casual clothes to stage wear, Prelsey had a knack for unbuttoning conventions, breaking boundaries, and pushing the apparel envelope while setting trends in the process. That style reverberates to this day with arguably as much influence as Elvis’ music. And perhaps nowhere is it more evident than during Elvis Week.
Fans can get up close and personal with a seemingly e...
