Ann Herrigan
Biography
Ann Herrigan is the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Bishkek.
Ann joined the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in 1999. Her career has been divided between postings in the Middle East with a posting in the United Arab Emirates (2004 to 2007); Eastern Europe, with a posting in Belarus (2010 to 2013); Central Asia with a posting in Kazakhstan (2013 to 2016); and Africa with a posting in Mali (2016 to 2017).
Serving in London, Ann was part of the Private Office of the Foreign Secretary (2000 to 2004) Convention Arms Control Desk Officer in Security Policy Department (2010 to 2013) and Deputy Team Leader of the UN and EU Sanctions Team in the Sanctions Unit.
Deputy Head of Mission, Kyrgyzstan
The Deputy Head of Mission is a senior diplomat and typically a key advisor to the Ambassador or High Commissioner. The Deputy is responsible for the daily management of an overseas Embassy or High Commission. They will represent the UK’s interests in the absence of the Ambassador as Chargé d’Affaires. A senior ranking Deputy may also take the title Minister. Smaller missions may not have a Deputy Head.
