Victoria Harrison

Biography

Victoria Harrison was appointed British Ambassador to Slovenia in August 2024.

After graduating in Russian from the University of Nottingham, Victoria joined the UK Diplomatic Service in 1997 and has served overseas as Second Secretary in the British Embassy in Helsinki and as Deputy Head of Mission in the British Embassy in Sarajevo. Victoria has carried out a wide range of policy and corporate roles in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as well as secondments to the Ministry of Justice and Home Office. She has held senior leadership roles covering areas including Human Resources, Information Technology, Commercial Governance, Afghanistan and Ukraine.

Victoria has a postgraduate diploma in Islamic Studies from the University of Sarajevo and an MSc in Business and Occupational Psychology from Kingston University. Victoria is trustee for several charities which support the inclusion of visually impaired people in the arts and sport. She is accompanied on her posting to Slovenia by her guide dog Otto.

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
