Kathleen Reid

Biography

Kathleen Reid is the Chargé d’Affaires for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in Sierra Leone. Kathleen has been based at the British High Commission in Freetown since March 2022.

Kathleen joined the Department for International Development in 2002 and has held a variety of leadership positions in Afghanistan, The Gambia, Iraq, Nigeria, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. She has extensive experience in development policy and programme management, corporate operations and crisis management.

Prior to joining DFID, Kathleen worked for the Ministry of Defence and HM Revenue and Customs before studying for a Master’s in International Development and undertaking a volunteer placement in Ghana.

Kathleen is married to Royston.

The Chargé d’Affaires represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the high commission and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
