Chris Campbell

Biography

Christopher John (Chris) Campbell was appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Ecuador in succession to Ms Katherine Ward LVO OBE. He arrived in Ecuador on 27 August 2020 to take up his role and presented the copy of his credentials to Foreign Minister Luis Gallegos on 15 September.

Chris joined the FCO in 1982 and has worked in North America Department, the Secretary of State’s Private Office, Polar Regions Section and Conflict Group in London. In addition, Chris has worked overseas in our Embassies in Khartoum, Dhaka, Jakarta, Caracas, Brussels (NATO), San Jose (including as Ambassador to Nicaragua) and Santo Domingo (as Ambassador).

The Ambassador represents His Majesty The King and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
