When logging in the gdm-greeter remains visible and nothing will happen. .xsession isn't executed and the greeter (and siblings like metacity) don't seem to exit.

IIRC I even saw a segfault in dmesg.

My goal would be to allow us to login and start a normal browser or terminal.
