feature request: use aseprite file in tilesheet #4109
Comments
Please consider making this because it will make the process of creating tilesheets much easier for aseprite users! |
The feature has come up before on the forum at https://discourse.mapeditor.org/t/aseprite-files-as-tileset-images/5084, where I also wrote some pointers as to how support for Aseprite could be added to Tiled. It doesn't look like a trivial project, but I agree it would be very handy. |
So does this mean you will implement it? |
I've written a Qt image format plugin for Aseprite based on the MIT-licensed parts of Aseprite at https://github.com/mapeditor/qaseprite. Next step to resolve this issue is to ship this plugin with Tiled, with some progress made by @dogboydog for the Linux AppImage in dogboydog@4b3c9dd. |
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
If we want to use aseprite to make a tilesheet, then we must export it to a format supported by Tiled (each time again)
https://www.aseprite.org/
Describe the solution you'd like
It would be great if Tiled supports the .aseprite format itself so that we can load it directly in Tiled.
