Requested feature

Im using a printer that has a single extruder, fed by a number of extruder steppers via an 8in1 adapter.
At the moment, it appears that the number of tools displayed on the extruder panel is the sum of all extruders and extruder steppers. so i see 9 available tools to select from rather than the 8 that actually exist.
I cant see any obvious way via configuration to specify the number of tools to override this behavior.
Would it be possible to add something to make this work?

Also, and probably less of an issue, although the correct macros are called when using the T0-Tx buttons, the active tool never changes (always displays T0 as active), it would be nice to be able to use the screen as a reference to see which tool is currently selected.
I assume this is all related to the use of extruder steppers and sync motion queue, but i believe this is the current method in klipper to use Xin1out setups.
There may be something i can do in the T0-Tx macros to set the active tool so klipper screen can see this, but im not sure how
