I had lived with the hotchpotch world of badly coordinated equipment for two years or so before the acquisition of a Google Nest Mini sparked my interest in home automation. It was then that I took a fresh look at integrating the various devices I already had and put together an Excel spreadsheet (reproduced below) which listed how they were controlled.
