having trouble determining flow and feasibility for a siphon designed to be used in an aquarium system.
Would like to move aquarium water from the display tank "DT" via a siphon to filtration in the garage.
Current design is to use a siphon, that needs to stay primed (in case of power failure), that way sump return pump doesn't flood the display tank.
PVC 2" and 1-1/2" lines have been run.
Lines must travel up 37" and horizontally 30' to get to garage where sump(s) are located.
Target flow is 50 GPM
Current design is to set siphon weir in garage at same height as siphon INLET to keep air from getting in the system (in case of power outage, or to keep siphon from draining too fast and sucking air).
Walls within the siphon weir should keep the outlet pipe submerged.
Water will travel through a series of cascading sumps, from Siphon Weir to Sump 1 to Sump 2.
Each sump is lower than the last.
Pipe from Siphon weir to Sump 1 will be submerged
Pipe from Sump 1 to Sump 2 will be open gravity drain "free jet"
