The main big problem with shorting is the risk.
1. ↗️ Every 10 years the market doubles the value. ↗️
2. ⏰ Timing - due to 1, shorting gives you a small time frame and exact timing is hard on a market that depends on millions of reasons. ⏰
3.Fees - even without leverage you pay fees. If you missed the short you get a loss and you also pay fees.
