Contest Brief
I'm needing a creative floor plan for the first floor of my home. This floor is ~ 2200 sqft. It should include a master bedroom suite (bathroom and closet), guest room, laundry room, mudroom, pantry, kitchen, dining area, living room, and half bath. (Bonus to incorporate a nook or second area for small TV game room)
Key Requirements:
- Maximize storage specifically in the pantry, mudroom, and laundry room.
- Design an open floor plan suitable for entertaining.
- Consider specific constraints regarding ceiling heights and lofted ceilings, particularly in the living room.
- The pantry should be close to the kitchen.
- Avoid placing utilities in specified areas; design around existing wooden beams.
With a full demo planned, I'm open to move walls and utilities as necessary to create the perfect layout. Ideal candidates for this project should have:
- Extensive experience in home design and floor planning.
- A keen eye for maximizing storage and creating open spaces.
- The ability to work around existing structural elements and constraints.
The floor plan should incorporate a modern style and aesthetic throughout. The master bedroom suite should feature a walk-in closet. Please use a neutral palette throughout the design. The kitchen should include an island with seating. seating area with electric fireplace Proximity to the kitchen The living room area should feature large windows to allow for ample natural light. Please ensure the master suite is situated in a quiet area of the home. Design considerations should be made to accommodate the needs of a family with young kids, including safety features and play areas. Please include outdoor access/features: access to a pool outside on one side of the home.
I have attached the existing floor plan (some dimensions are approximate).
The left side of the home was an older addition and has post and beam high ceilings (~45' 7'' x 18' 4'') - it is preferred that the kitchen and living areas are in this space at a minimum.
The top side of the home (~35' x 9') is a planned addition to the space so will be incorporated into the living space - however, I would like to avoid water needed in these areas. Windows in this space can be moved and entry will be in this area.
