I'm in need of a skilled professional to help me create a proof of concept for a cost-effective IoT device aimed at the agricultural sector. This device should primarily be capable of collecting weather data.
Objective: The basic version of the Khetease IoT product is designed to help small-scale farmers monitor key soil conditions—such as moisture, temperature, and humidity—in a portable, affordable device. The device is compact, lightweight, and can be used across multiple fields without permanent installation. It will connect to the farmer's smartphone via Bluetooth for real-time data transfer.
Steps for Developing the PoC:
Objective of PoC:
Demonstrate the ability to measure soil moisture, temperature, and humidity using sensors.
Send the data to a mobile app via Bluetooth.
Validate the basic functionalities in a portable format, ensuring low power consumption and portability.
Components for PoC:
Microcontroller: Use an ESP32 or Arduino Nano, which supports Bluetooth.
Sensors:
Soil Moisture Sensor
Temperature & Humidity Sensor (e.g., DHT11 or DHT22)
Bluetooth Module: If using an Arduino, add an external Bluetooth module (e.g., HC-05), but with ESP32, Bluetooth is already integrated.
Power Supply: Small rechargeable battery (like a 3.7V Li-ion battery) to power the system.
Basic App: A simple app to receive and display data via Bluetooth (you can use an existing Bluetooth serial app for initial testing).
Process:
Connect the sensors to the microcontroller.
Write basic firmware for the microcontroller to:
Read sensor data.
Transmit the data via Bluetooth.
Test the connection between the microcontroller and your phone via Bluetooth using a simple app or terminal.
Prototype enclosure: Build a simple case or enclosure for the components to simulate the portable nature of the device.
Expected Outcome:
Successfully collect soil and environmental data (moisture, temperature, humidity).
Transmit the data to a mobile phone via Bluetooth.
Validate battery life and the device’s portability.
Evaluation:
Analyze sensor accuracy, data transmission speed, and power consumption.
Test how easy it is for farmers to operate (e.g., soil probe insertion, button press, app pairing).
