My project involves implementing variations of the Directed Diffusion protocol in the Network Simulator 2 (NS2) or the Network Simulator 3 (NS3) and comparing their performance based on several metrics.
The simulation will involve:
- 15 nodes with node 0 acting as the sink node.
- A terrain area of 2m x 2m.
- Using a Queue system (Queue/DropTail/PriQueue).
- PHY/MAC layer set to IEEE 802.15.4.
- An OmniAntenna for transmission.
- Initial energy set at 2J with Transmission Power: 0.066J
Receiving Power: 0.0395J
Idle Power: 0.0035J
Transmission Distance: 1m
Listening Distance: 1.5m
You'll need to implement three specific protocols:
1. The original Directed Diffusion in a Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN).
2. An improved version that uses a minimal hop count approach for establishing gradients and optimal path selection based on remaining energy.
3. A variant with a dynamic cluster head, which selects the highest remaining energy node as the cluster head during gradient setup.
The key performance metrics for comparison will include:
- Average Energy Consumption (most important)
- End to End Total Delay(most important)
- Packet Delivery Ratio(most important)
- Number of Surviving Nodes(most important)
Ideal candidates for this project will have extensive experience with NS2, NS3, network protocol implementation, and performance analysis. A strong understanding of energy consumption metrics and wireless network simulations is crucial. Please include examples of similar projects in your application.
