I'm seeking a skilled graphic designer with advanced Photoshop expertise to complete a project for me - a banner aimed at promoting the San Diego Zoo in general.
Key Requirements:
- Proficient in Photoshop with a strong portfolio of graphic design work.
- Able to deliver a visually appealing, high-quality banner.
- Understands the nuances of creating designs suitable for a zoo promotion.
The San Diego Zoo needs a new web banner image for its home page. Your job is to design a new banner for their upcoming summer season. Use any text and images available on their website. Include the logo as well.
Before you begin working in Photoshop, conduct a little research. Use Google Images to search for "Zoo Web Banners" and get a collection of some inspirational work. Study image use, text placement, and photoshop technique. Montages are big. Keep your target audience and mood similar to the current San Diego Zoo website theme.
After you have conducted research, draw some rough sketches on paper. Doodle a half dozen rough ideas by hand, on paper. Determine your most successful sketch and redraw it nicer. This sketch would be something you could show an art director or client for feedback on your work.
Once you have posted your roughs to Discussions and gotten feedback, begin working on the digital banner. Post early and post often through the week. Expect to generate multiple drafts, and post updates for critique.
Banner specifications:
800x400px or 1200x628px or 1500x500px
Combine at least 3 photos with shapes/line/graphics
Use at least one shape/filled selection as a shape
Include text in the layout. This could be a tagline or promotional message.
RGB Color mode
72 DPI (you can work in a higher resolution, and save the final JPG as 72dpi)
Submit a Flat JPG and layered PSD file to Assignments by Week 3.
