Position Overview:
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our organization's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network architecture, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and efficiency. As a key member of our IT team, the Senior Network Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of our network infrastructure to support business operations and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design and Architecture: Design, plan, and implement scalable and resilient network solutions aligned with business requirements and industry best practices. Develop network architecture blueprints, diagrams, and documentation to guide implementation and future expansions.
Infrastructure Deployment: Lead the deployment and configuration of network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points. Ensure proper integration and interoperability of network devices and services.
Performance Optimization: Monitor network performance, traffic patterns, and utilization metrics to identify areas for optimization and improvement. Implement solutions to enhance network performance, reliability, and availability, including QoS policies, traffic shaping, and network segmentation.
Security Implementation: Implement and maintain robust network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats. Configure firewall policies, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security controls to safeguard network infrastructure and data assets.
Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Provide advanced troubleshooting support for network-related issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security incidents. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve issues promptly and minimize downtime.
Capacity Planning and Scalability: Conduct capacity planning assessments to forecast future network requirements and recommend infrastructure upgrades or expansions as needed. Ensure the scalability of network resources to accommodate growth and evolving business needs.
Vendor Management: Engage with network equipment vendors, service providers, and contractors to evaluate technology solutions, negotiate contracts, and procure hardware/software products and services. Manage vendor relationships and oversee the delivery of contracted services to meet SLAs.
Documentation and Training: Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, topology diagrams, and operational procedures. Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and IT staff on network technologies, best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
X years of experience working as a network engineer, with a proven track record of designing and managing complex network infrastructures.
Expertise in network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPNs, and DNS.
Hands-on experience with network hardware from leading vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto Networks, and Arista.
Strong understanding of network security principles, including access control, encryption, authentication, and security policies.
Certifications such as Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), CompTIA Network+, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are preferred.
Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools, such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or Cisco Prime.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
