Its used in solar powered battery chargers. Its used for 12/24 volt battery charging. It charges the battery in 3 stages. Bulk charge, Absorption and Float Charge. It its a flat battery below 9/18 Volts then it gives pulse charge to bring the battery to the rated normal voltage there by protecting the battery.
