I am an Excel and Access developer based in Cape Town, South Africa. I have extensive experience in creating complicated Excel spreadsheets and Access databases. My initial thought would be that this database would be better in Access rather than Excel. Excel is an excellent flat file database - but the database you require is more a relational database, and for that, Access is a much more powerful tool. For example, you will need a client table - and against each client you will have multiple other records - OT, Speech Pathology etc - these would ideally be stored in an associated (related) table to the clients’ table. It would also mean that your charts and progress indicators would update with minimal fuss as Access looks at the entire table of data, whereas Excel looks at a range of data. While it is not impossible to write a good spreadsheet in Excel to do this, it would just be way more efficient in Access. The database can open at the dashboard you require, and even have its own ribbon to go to other elements - the clients, the tasks and should you require, reports that you would be able to PDF, Print, Preview or Export to Excel. When I was living in New Zealand I wrote a database for the health department to monitor the development of diabetes amongst the pacific islander population.
