Project Brief for Children’s Book Illustrator

Title of Series: Little Me

First Book Title: Little Me, I Am Healthy

Target Audience: Girls aged 2-8 years old

Project Scope:

Front Cover Design: A captivating cover that introduces our main character, displaying her personality, self-confidence, and joy.

Back Cover Design: A complementary design that aligns with the front cover and book theme.

Mock-up: A complete mock-up showcasing both front and back covers.

Illustrations: Vibrant, engaging, and positive illustrations for the interior pages, each reflecting positive affirmations and healthy habits.
Character Description:

Main Character: An African-American little girl designed to resonate with young girls.
Appearance:

Hair: Curly hair styled with colorful and sparkly details. Include glitter, rainbow elements, and vibrant accessories in her hair to showcase her personality.

Attire: She should wear princess shoes and age-appropriate, fun outfits, with a touch of sparkle to reflect self-confidence and self-love.

Expression: The character should exude joy, self-assurance, and positivity, making her a relatable and aspirational figure for young readers.
Style and Tone:

Illustration Style: Bright, colorful, and playful with an emphasis on positive energy.
Tone: Happy, encouraging, and uplifting, with each page radiating a sense of love, confidence, and joy.

Imagery: Reflecting themes of health, self-care, and positive habits.

Book Concept: This book is the first in a series of positive affirmations aimed at young girls, focusing on healthy habits and self-love. Each page will feature affirmations paired with illustrations that reinforce messages of well-being and confidence, fostering a positive self-image.

Consistency Requirement:

Consistent Character: It is essential to have a consistent character design throughout the entire book and across the series to maintain recognition and continuity for young readers. The main character’s appearance, personality traits, and style should be carefully maintained across all pages and future books in the Little Me series.

Variety in Actions: The character will be depicted engaging in various activities that reflect healthy habits and affirmations, such as brushing teeth, eating fruits, and exercising. Each illustration should show her in a new pose or action but with her distinctive look and personality intact.
