Contest Brief
Update (having seen submissions so far):
- don't want a garage (it's in Ireland and no one has them)
- the w.c. downstairs should move towards the front between the mud room and cinema allowing the return to move further back and alligning with where it is on floor 1 (reducing build cost)
- downstairs also needs a plant room somewhere that can be accessed from outside and inside ideally (for hot water tank and manifold etc etc to live).
- we like the size and location of the master en-suite.
- we want one large squareish master dressing room at least 5m by 4m somewhere. The second dressing room is optional if the first is big enough.
- the top floor should be a square\rectangle (cheaper build cost). We're wondering if there's anything else could go up there that would make use of the better views rather than 3 small bedrooms with small ensuites.
- I have spent the least amount of time looking and thinking about the single story downstairs part that contains the gym office and games room. I think that needs a redesign which only one contestant has tried so far
I need a creative architect/interior designer to help rethink the layout of our spacious 8-bedroom home. We're considering the elimination of the double-height space in the kitchen, which could allow for the addition of another room. Most areas of the house, including bathrooms and bedrooms, are open for redesign.
Key Requirements:
- Professional advice on the kitchen height
- Reconfiguring the house layout while retaining 8 bedrooms.
- Maximizing views from the kitchen onto the garden.
- Creative redesign of all rooms apart from the kitchen's location.
Ideal Skills:
- Extensive experience in residential architectural design
- Strong understanding of spatial awareness and room configuration
- Ability to provide professional opinions based on design principles
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of maximizing views in home design.
Notes:
- Windows to the east or west need obscure glass and so you can't have bedrooms that only have windows on those floors.
- We do want a lot of dressing room space
- extra points if you take into account engineering elements that can reduce buildcost without sacrificing other elements
