Contest Brief

I’m looking for a designer to create a clean, minimalist flyer template for promoting dance events. The design must emphasize simplicity, readability, and balance, fitting all essential content in a single layout.

Key Elements

The flyer must include:
- Event Title (visually prominent)
- Date
- Time
- Location
- Optional tagline or note

Design Expectations

1. Typography and Layout:
- Prioritize readability with clean, legible fonts.
- Use alignment, balanced spacing, and white space for a professional, minimalist look.

2. Visual Accents (Optional):
- Subtle backgrounds, patterns, gradients, or shapes may be used to complement the content.
- Silhouettes are optional but must:
- Depict ballroom or social couple dancing only (no single dancers, multiple dancers dancing separately, ballerinas, or kids).
- Play a supporting role, not the central focus.
- Be accurate in showing correct dance positions (e.g., proper hand connections for partnered dancing).

3. Color Palette:
- Design must support a two- or three-color customizable palette to adapt to different themes (e.g., Valentine’s, Easter).

4. File Requirements:
- Fully layered and editable source files (PSD, AI, or equivalent).
- Include a small gray circle near the bottom-right corner of your design. This detail ensures you’ve read the brief carefully.

What to Avoid

- AI-generated submissions
- Busy or overly decorative designs
- Incorrect or overly dominant silhouettes
- Silhouettes of single dancers, ballerinas, multiple dancers dancing separately, or kids
- Misaligned or poorly spaced elements

Original Design Confirmation

By submitting, you confirm that:
- Your design is original and free of AI-generated content.
- Source files are layered and editable.

Thank you all for submitting your designs to this contest. The work has been incredible!

With only one day left and over 1,000 submissions, I am at the point where I can no longer review new designs. If I rated or commented on your design, it means there was something I liked about it. Please focus on addressing my feedback without altering the overall look and feel of that particular design. Submitting new designs in the hope of receiving a higher rating, especially when heavily inspired by someone else’s work that I rated highly, will not help.

    Good luck to everyone!

Dear Sir, do you have any favorite dance that we can use in the design and if there is a specific tax for your design, please help me with the tax and the name of the specific dance so that I can create the design in a very beautiful way.

Thank you for your question. I appreciate your effort in wanting to create a beautiful design. Rather than focusing on a specific dance, I encourage you to carefully review my brief and the comments I’ve provided, as they outline the type of dance events this flyer is intended for. These are social dances featuring different styles, so the design should reflect couple dancing rather than individual or performance-based styles. Let me know if you need further clarification after reviewing the brief. Thank you!

“Important Update to Contest Guidelines – Please Read Carefully”

Thank you for all your submissions so far! I have updated the contest brief to provide clearer guidelines and address common issues:

    1. Focus on Minimalist Design:
    - Prioritize readability with clean typography, balanced spacing, and a clear layout.
    - Subtle accents (gradients, shapes, or patterns) are welcome but must not dominate the design.

    2. File Expectations:
    - Final submissions must include layered source files (PSD, AI, or equivalent) for editing.

    3. AI-Generated Submissions:
    - Submissions showing signs of AI generation, poor alignment, or lack of detail will be automatically rejected.

      4. Silhouettes (Optional):
      - Silhouettes are not required. If used:
      - They must depict ballroom or social couple dancing only.
      - Avoid single dancers, ballerinas, kids, or multiple dancers dancing separately.
      - Silhouettes must play a supporting role and be accurate (e.g., correct hand positions for partnered dancing).

      5. Hidden Requirement:
      - To confirm you’ve carefully read the updated brief, include a small gray circle near the bottom-right corner of your design. Designs without this element will not be considered.

Please take the time to review these updated guidelines carefully and refine your submissions accordingly. I look forward to seeing thoughtful, original work that aligns with the updated brief. Thank you!

I’d like to clarify a few things to ensure everyone understands my expectations.

Some submissions appear AI-generated with little effort in refining prompts, which doesn’t meet the standard I’m looking for. While I’m not opposed to AI use, I expect some effort and craftsmanship. Flooding the contest with numerous AI variations in the hope that one sticks is counterproductive and will likely result in rejection. Please focus on submitting 2-3 quality concepts.

I’ve also noticed designs that mimic higher-rated entries, which is unacceptable and will be rejected. I’ve provided comments on rated designs and expect participants to review and adapt their submissions accordingly. For example, designs featuring ballerina silhouettes will now be automatically rejected as they don’t match the theme.

In summary, I value originality, creativity, and adherence to the brief over quantity or AI reliance. Please carefully review the brief and my comments. Thank you for your efforts!

Just inquiring; is this a certain type of dance (partner or showcase) or style (Ball Room, Hip_Hop, Jazz) ?

Thank you for your inquiry. These are social dances, including styles like Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Country (Two-Step, Nightclub, Polka, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing), and Ballroom (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Rumba). The focus is on couple dances for local events, such as Sunday afternoon socials, rather than competitions or showcase performances. Let me know if you need further clarification!

Thank you all for your submissions so far. I want to clarify an important point to help guide your designs. This event is for social dance styles, such as Salsa, Bachata, Country, Balroom and similar couple dances. Please avoid using ballerina silhouettes or contemporary dancers with minimal clothing, as they do not align with the theme. If you choose to include dancers, ensure they reflect social dance styles. I appreciate your creativity and look forward to seeing updated designs. Thank you!
