As a daily user of Spotify, I decided to perform a UX/UI review of the desktop app, and an exploration for redesigning it using UX/UI principles. These are the end results. UX/UI review: - the UX pattern of “Z” visual flow is broken; - clutter; - a lot of dead space; - misuse of whitespace; - redundant icons or components; - there is room for a lot of optimization; - icons/flows are not intuitive; - visual interface is unremarkable; UX/UI redesign proposition: - the “Z” pattern is fixed and flows seamlessly in new UI; - neomorphism: transparent, blurred background to let desktop wallpaper’s colors show through -> boosts visual experience and dopamine; - minimalism - removing clutter and rearranging icons and components for maximum efficiency and intuitiveness; - universal search bar (top middle); - main menu reorganized for better use of space;
