I need a developer to create an MSI installer for a Python project I will host on GitHub. Please read the requirements carefully before responding. I am looking for clear and definitive offers without unnecessary delays or irrelevant features. Any deviation from the specified requirements will result in the developer being excluded from consideration.
Core Requirements for the Installer:
Install Python 3.12 via its MSI installer.
License Check:
The installer must validate the license before proceeding (details below).
Install Project: Use pip to install the project directly from the GitHub repository.
Desktop Shortcut: Add an icon for the program to the desktop.
System PATH Update: Ensure the program's directory is correctly added to the system PATH:
C:/.../python.312/.../program_name.
Custom Installer UI: Apply provided images to enhance the installation experience.
License Validation Options
The installer should implement one of the following methods for license validation.
Option 1: License Check Integrated in the Installer
The installer includes a login form where the user inputs their email and password.
It sends a POST request to a provided endpoint with the following information:
Password
MAC Address
If valid, the server responds with a license file that must be saved to:
C:\Users\.program_name\license.
If the license check fails, the installer should terminate the process.
Option 2: License Check Executed via Python Module
The installer runs a Python script to handle license validation before proceeding with installation.
The script:
Prompts the user for email and password.
Sends the credentials and MAC Address to the provided endpoint.
If successful, writes the license file to:
C:\Users\.program_name\license.
If validation fails, the installer terminates the process.
Both options should be proposed, and I will choose based on the implementation feasibility and efficiency.
