Job Brief Summary We are seeking an experienced Developer with expertise in Keycloak to lead the migration from version 7 to 26. The primary goal is to address performance and usability issues while ensuring system compatibility and enhancing the login process for an eCommerce platform. Part-time commitment:** 10-20 hours per week (flexible). Expected duration:** To be discussed during the interview. General Information We operate an eCommerce platform - Household Textiles, Housewares, Clothing, HomeCare, and Innovation - using Oracle Commerce Cloud, mainly servicing lower-income customer demographics. Keycloak is employed for user management, authentication, and login, but the current version is outdated and unsupported. This project aims to optimize Keycloak's performance and usability while keeping in mind current custom integration with the backend, which is built on Microsoft technologies (C#). We will have our back-end C# team supporting this. We would like to take this opportunity to set up Keycloak as independently as possible from our other software layers. We have around 3,000 to 4,000 users, but this base of users is composed of our clients, so there is no need for complex fine-grained or role-based access control. Tasks and Deliverables - Migrate Keycloak from version 7 to 26. - Address and resolve performance and usability issues. - Ensure compatibility with custom backend integrations. - Collaborate with our back-end team familiar with Microsoft technologies and API-based integrations. - Focus on the Keycloak component in isolation. - Investigate and optimize the login process for efficiency. Required Experience - Proven experience with Keycloak. - Understanding of API-based integrations. - Ability to identify and solve performance issues. - **Nice to have:** Experience with Keycloak migration/upgrading projects. We are also open to experience in other customer authentication systems to consider alternative solutions (one of the key reasons for our previous decision to use Keycloak is related to our business scenario of clients who won’t use email to log in - using their phone number instead). Additional Information - The relevant eCommerce platform is Oracle Commerce Cloud. - Keycloak includes several handoffs to internal APIs during the login process.
