Project Scope & Objective
The objective of this project is to develop an online system ("e-Class") to manage the daily activities of a school.
I propose open standards based e-Commerce solution using enterprise J2EE or [url removed, login to view] technology. This
Solution avoids dependency or "lock-in" into any underlying platform such as Windows.
The e-Class application will be delivered in plug-n-play form in one integrated appliance (Hardware Server, Application Server, Database, and Middleware all included). The whole system including the administration will be all web based, hence no IT system configurations will be required from the user's network manager.
Each authorized user will only need a browser to access the system from anywhere in the world. For added security, the system will include a two-factor authentication such as RSA token or mobile phone token through SMS. The client (school) will have the option of hosting the system locally or outsourcing the hosting responsibility to the design company or other third party data centre operators. The system will accommodate unlimited number of users.
Proposed Strategy
At this stage due to my limited understanding of the client's requirements, I propose an initial prototype phase to confirm system functionality from all stakeholders followed by three subsequent development phases. PROTOTYPE PHASE (gathers full system requirements from client and develops quick mock-up demo screens to confirm system functionality from all stake holders)
