My name Troy owner of T2 truck center looking for a solution to properly install my 18000 lb 2 post automotive hoist, but there's a little hitch: the concrete base in my garage where it will be installed is just 3/4" short of necessary thickness.
My idea revolves around using a plate of steel to remedy this issue, but I need an expert's opinion to be sure it's a workable, safe solution and to determine the appropriate sizing. The general dimensions for the concerning area are measured in feet.
Key Tasks:
- Develop a feasible solution using a steel plate to supplement the concrete base.
- Engineer the steel plate to distribute the weight of the hoist evenly, delivering a stable platform and mitigating potential harm to the concrete.
- Optimize the plan considering the fact that the left side floor is 3/4" shy of the minimum.
Desired Skills:
- A background in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience with weight distribution and force dynamics.
- Proficiency in material selection and design for load-bearing applications.
My supplier has no problem installing the hoist with a enginneers approval. Looking forward to collaborating and solving my automotive hoist installation dilemma!
