I am looking to contract hire an experienced Unreal Engine Xcode/macOS/iOS developer to consult with and help port a complex cross-platform project with a lot of plugins.
Our project currently supports Windows, Android, Meta Quest, and Magic Leap 2. We want to bring it to iOS, macOS, iPadOS, and VisionOS and maintain our current multiplayer compatibility.
We are using source 5.4.3.
I myself have gotten to setting up Xcode, compiling the Engine, connect to the project source control, and successfully generate project files for Xcode, however the build fails.
Mainly due to plugins not having Mac support, for example, I see MetaXR having issues. There is edge cases to work with. We don't need MetaXR when using a Mac, so a goal would be to skip it's initialization when on Mac, but the project must retain it for consistency, given cross-platform multiplayer support.
I also see some errors related to VulkanRHI, which seems a bit heavier to solve.
We primarily develop on Windows, but I would love to also discuss best practices for source control when working on the same project between Windows and Mac.
Overall I am looking for someone who I can ask questions to, who will educate me on the Apple ecosystem a bit, and also can complete these ports. Ultimately, I just need the projects to open cleanly and work, and be able to build to MacOS, iOS, iPadOS, and VisionOS. You don't need to do any work on the actual app/experience at all.
