enlarge hole in floor joist

I need help/guidance regarding enlarging a hole in a Wooden Floor Joist that a water drain pipe runs through. When hot water is running a creaking noise can be heard as the drain pipe thermally expands in the floor joist hole. The hole has a medium size, ranging from 4-7 inches wide.
