Outdoor Hiking Clothing Designer

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Apparel Product Developer & Sourcing Specialist to join our team in Australia. This role is crucial for the development of our first outdoor apparel line, ensuring that the products are of the highest quality and effectively meet market demands. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of garment construction, fabric selection, and the ability to source from reliable factories, primarily through Alibaba or direct factory contacts.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Sourcing & Development:
Identify and source existing garment blocks from high-quality factories via Alibaba or direct contacts.
Work closely with these factories to modify and customize these blocks to fit our brand’s requirements.
Ensure all products meet high standards for materials, fabrics, and construction.
Range Planning & Development:
Build a comprehensive range plan that reflects current market trends and our brand’s vision.
Collaborate with the team to design and place logos and branding elements on products.
Review and propose amendments to the range plan to maximize effectiveness and appeal in the market.
Factory & Sample Management:
Source samples from multiple factories to compare quality and ensure the best options are selected.
Manage relationships with factories to ensure timely and high-quality production.
Material & Fabric Expertise:
Utilize your knowledge of high-quality materials and fabrics to guide the selection process.
Ensure that all materials used align with the brand’s commitment to quality and performance.
Project Management:
Oversee the entire product development process, from sourcing to final sample approval.
Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless execution of the product range.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in apparel product development and sourcing, preferably within the outdoor or activewear sectors.
Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric selection, and production processes.
Experience working with factories, especially through Alibaba or direct factory sourcing.
Ability to create and manage a detailed range plan, including product design, logo placement, and material selection.
Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
Based in Australia and familiar with the local market trends and consumer preferences.
