Opportunity Management Web App Overview Build a simple web application that allows users to create, read, and update “opportunities” (requests from customers for help). The app should include: Frontend: A React-based UI Backend: A Node.js/Express API Database: MongoDB for data storage Feature Requirements Create an Opportunity A form where a user can enter the details of a new opportunity Required fields: title (string) description (text) status (enum: Open, In Progress, Closed) customerName (string) opportunityType (enum: Help Request, Handover, Cover Request) startDate: (timestamp, applicable to Handover and Cover Request only) endDate: (timestamp, applicable to Cover Request only) createdAt (timestamp, auto-generated) updatedAt (timestamp, auto-generated) List Opportunities A table or list displaying existing opportunities Each item should show the title, status, customerName, type, and createdAt. In addition it should be possible to see the full details of an opportunity. Update an Opportunity A way to change an opportunity’s status (Open → In Progress → Closed) Bonus Features (Optional but Encouraged) Filtering opportunities by status Sorting opportunities by createdAt Search functionality Simple authentication (optional) Technical Requirements Backend (Node.js, Express, MongoDB) REST API with the following routes: POST /opportunities → Create an opportunity GET /opportunities → List all opportunities GET /opportunities/:id → Retrieve a single opportunity PUT /opportunities/:id → Update an opportunity Use Mongoose for MongoDB interactions Frontend (React, Fetch/Axios) A simple UI built using React Component-based design Use React Hooks (useState, useEffect) Code Quality & Extras Clean, readable, and well-structured code Responsive design (basic mobile support) Use of environment variables for API configuration Time & Expectations Estimate: 2 hours + feature test to be written Evaluation Criteria: Functional correctness Code structure and best practices API design and efficiency UI/UX simplicity and usability Ability to extend functionality Important: Make sure to include a summary and details of how you approached the task, your thought process and all the steps involved in detail as well as areas of improvement, and areas you think went well.
